SEN Teaching Assistant – September 2026 Start
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a special school in Dunstable, starting in September 2026. This is a full-time position offering a rewarding opportunity to support students with additional needs in a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities.
- Work one-to-one or with small groups of pupils to support their learning, emotional development, and independence.
- Assist in managing behaviour positively, promoting a calm and supportive learning atmosphere.
- Help prepare and adapt teaching materials and resources to meet individual learning needs.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and, where appropriate, parents or carers.
- Support pupils with personal care and mobility needs where required (full training can be provided).
Requirements
- A valid DBS registered on the Update Service is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or care setting, is beneficial but not essential.
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A flexible attitude and a strong commitment to promoting the well-being, development, and learning of all pupils.
