The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

• Autism (ASC)
• ADHD
• Speech and Language Needs
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
• Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD & SLD)
• Physical and Complex Needs

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with delivering engaging lessons and daily classroom activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
• Encourage pupils’ academic progress, emotional well-being, and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual learning needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff.
• Support with personal care and mobility where required (full training provided).

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
• Experience within schools, education, care, residential care, support work, childcare, youth work or SEN settings is advantageous.
• A caring, patient and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
• A valid DBS on the Update Service is preferred (or willingness to obtain one).
